About Me

I started my career at a PR firm, where I discovered how important it is to understand your audience and know what you want to communicate before you even begin to write.

I’ve worked with clients in tech, digital health, education, and the arts—just to name a few of my favorites. From my clients in tech, I’ve learned to ask lots of questions, sort out the facts, and communicate complicated ideas clearly. Working with healthcare clients, I’ve had a chance to dig into the details of diabetes, hypertension, sleep, nutrition, mental health, and women’s reproductive health. And I’ve seen the power of writing with empathy and precision to help people understand their health and change their behavior so they can feel better.

Along the way, I’ve written everything from in-depth white papers to award-winning ad copy designed to make people laugh. I’ve helped executives become thought leaders, I’ve interviewed artists and researchers so I could write about their world-changing work, and I’ve read medical journals to get the facts straight.

Both of my degrees (a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz) are in cultural anthropology. That’s because I love to know what's important to people, and to try on different ways of seeing the world. These are the reasons I love writing, too. I get to know my clients’ work deeply, look at things from their perspectives, and then put it all into words.
